It's only fair to share…

DreamWe all know the importance of sleep but many of us still do not get enough. Most people do need eight hours sleep even if we can “get away” with less. Slowing the mind down so as to be able to get to sleep is a challenge for some. Others can get off to sleep but wake up in the middle of the night.

Whilst there is no one size fits all approach to better sleep here are three tips that can help.

  1.  Regular exercise has been shown to help people sleep better. This applies to adults and teenagers. Performance at work or school is enhanced too.
  2. Switch off screens at least 30 minutes before going to bed. This includes TV, laptop, tablet and smart phone. Do not use screen devices in bed!
  3. Slow, deep breathing or regular meditation is a great way to relax and slow the mind down. A cup of green or chamomile tea can help too.
